Prior to execution of Melasti, all the deva (statues or pratima) of every temple in the city or village environment diiring Puseh gathered at Temple Village. The deva one by one coming after the previous more prostrate facing Meru, Sri Vishnu, then distanakan alongside one another in an elongated structure called Balai Panjang or Great Hall. Melasti ceremony took place next day, Lord Sri Vishnu and his deva coupled together into the sea or into springs nearby that are considered sacred depending on their respective areas. Melasti Ceremony is nothing but a purification ceremony, prayascita. In the ejection Sang Hyang Aji Swamandala mentioned: "To eliminate the suffering people from the bondage of the material world," while the ejection Sundarigama states: "To get the holy water of life in the middle of the ocean." Sacred water comes from the mouth of the holy rivers in India in particular Ganges river.
In Srimad Bhagavatam Skanda nine mentioned King Bhagiratha do hermitage for water Ganga down to earth, then pleaded with mother Ganges to free their ancestors. Mother Ganga ejected from the lotus feet of Lord Sri Visnu, he can liberate a person from the bonding material. It seems obvious that anyone who regularly worship Mother Ganga solely with the water bath to maintain very good health and slowly become worshipers of God. Dipermaklumkan Ganges water bath in all the Vedic literature, and people taking advantage of fully freed from sin reaction.
